ArchiTex:About

From ArchiTex

The archiTex anonymous is an interdisciplinary collaboration that aims at the publication of knowledge into an architectonic archive.

The architectonic archive is published as a freely accessible, interactive online archive. Its aim is a systematization of knowledge that interrelates fragments of knowledge through the visualization of its relationship in the navigable interface that links contributions to other relative fields of knowledge, and to other existing archives

The archive is based on open source development princilples, fully embracing the principle of sharing and collaborating across international, cultural and professional boundaries. The transfer of new technologies and techniques from diverse fields of research and practice is not only changing the face of the profession, but also that of design education. Traditional boundaries erode whilst new forms of practice emerge, freely thinking and acting across multiple disciplines.

This remarkable aperture within and without the practice of design supports the free exchange of information and experience beyond its professional perimeters. The construction of such an Open Knowledge Architecture introduces partnerships as the legal basis for collaboration, and applies a number of well-tested, new technologies such as delegated voting, virtual currencies, and licenses its content under Creative Commons in order to instigate a culture of exchange and transfer of knowledge. The data building the Open Knowledge Architecture is classified into different dimensions: text, graphic, three-dimensional and film or audio contributions.

Applying this open source philosophy of project development to the academic structure educates professionals (be they lawyers, architects, doctors or film makers) to be trained in communication with different disciplines as it forms an integral part of their course. The archive’s fifth dimension constructs projects that take place and action in the real world, and are open for integration into education programs. It focuses around an interdisciplinary approach towards architectural project.

In its final stage of development, the architectonic archive will be translated into a universal game, not merely for reasons of entertainment but especially as an important media for the development, education and social implementation of design. The development of is documented in the sixth dimension of the architectonic archive.

Stretching the boundaries of what is possible in the virtual world might reveal future directions not only for gaming but also for real world designs, for research, design practice and education in architecture and other areas of knowledge.
